1) What is Sunrise Registration Period?
Sunrise refers to the periods of time where the .CO only offers to trademark holders to register.

3) Who is eligible to register a .CO domain name during Sunrise period?
Only the owner, licensee or assignee of a registered trademark / service mark registered with national effect, having obtained a registered status on or before 30th July 2008 may apply for a .CO domain during Sunrise period.
4) What are the registration requirements for .CO Sunrise application?
Registration requirements for a .CO Sunrise application as below:
- Registrant must be owners, licensees or assignees of trademarks or service marks registered with national effect which issued by a trademark registration authority having jurisdiction over an entire nation (e.g. national trademarks, Community trademarks, Benelux trademarks).
- Eligible trademarks must be registered in a country, region, locality, or organization established in accordance with the WIPO ST.3 standard .
- Trademark or service marks must obtain a registered status on or before 30 July 2008.
- Domain name applied must be identical to all text or word elements contained in the eligible trademark.
- Application may be based on both works and figurative (device) sign that exist exclusively or predominantly of words.
- If the trademark includes one or more spaces between words, the spaces may be removed entirely or replaced with a hyphen (-).
- If the trademark includes special character (such as, but not limited to, -, @, !, §, %, ^, ©, &), these characters can be eliminated, transcribed, or replaced with a hyphen.
- If the trademark or service mark contains letters that are not contained in the standard Latin script such as "ä" or "é", the trademark may be registered without such elements or replaced by conventionally accepted spellings such as “ae”.
- Applicants are require to provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information, amongst others, the following field:
- Trademark name;
- Trademark date;
- Trademark country;
- Trademark registration number;
- Applicant capacity (owner / licensee / assignee).
5) Is there any supporting document required under Sunrise period?
Additional documentary evidence is needed if registry required extra information or the information submitted is not sufficient. Such evidence may include, but not limited to as shown below:
- An electronic copy of an official document issued by the corresponding trademark office or trademark registry indicating that the trademark has obtained a registered status on or before 30 July, 2008. Either the original registration or, in case the expiry date of the initial registration is before the actual submission date of the application, the latest renewal certificate should be submitted;
- If the applicant is an assignee or licensee, he will be asked to provide corresponding declarations;
- An original or certified copy of any document the registry deems relevant. A certified translation of documents that are not in English or Spanish may be requested by the registry at any time;
- Proof of current and significant use of the trademark in the country wherein the trademark registration has been obtained (even if the trademark laws in such countries do not require the trademark owner to actually use the trademark within a specific timeframes);
- Additional evidence may be required in the case of trademarks claimed based on dictionary words and/or generic terms.
The electronic copy of the documentary evidence submitted must follow the below technical requirements:
- File format: PDF and a maximum size of 1MB.
- Content must not be retouched or otherwise altered.
- DIN A4 or Letter standard layout.
- Documents must be humanly readable.
6) Is there any verification fee for a Sunrise application? Is the verification fee refundable?
PVerification fee is required for a Sunrise application and note that the verification fee is not refundable.
7) Is the verification and registration fee refundable in the event where the Sunrise application verification failed?
In the event that the Sunrise application verification has failed, the registration fee will be refunded to partner. However, the verification fee is not refundable.
8) How long will the validation process take?
The total time required or specific time required for a particular application is highly dependent on a number of factors, not all of which are known at this stage, but that includes:
- The total number of applications received;
- Whether or not documentary evidence is required and whether it meets the requirements;
- The number of the request for reconsiderations.
9) Does the first-come, first-serve basis apply on the Sunrise application for .CO domain name?
No. If only one application is submitted, the domain name will be awarded to the applicant after the validation process is successful. If more than one application is submitted, all successful validated applicants will be invited for an auction.
10) Can my rejected Sunrise application be reconsidered?
Yes, an applicant can file a request for reconsideration within 10 days of the publication of the registry’s decision by completing a form/document that will be made available on the websites of the registry. Please click here.
Upon receipt of the reconsideration request and the corresponding fee, the registry will re-examine the application, and notify the complainant.

1)What is Landrush Registration Period?
Landrush refers to the initial period of public availability of the new .CO top-level domain. Any interested registrants can submit their .CO landrush application.
2) When is the Landrush period for .CO?
Landrush period for .CO will be opened on 21 June, 2010 18:00 GMT and closed on 13 July, 2010 18:00 GMT.
3) Who is eligible to register .CO domain name during Landrush period?
There are no restrictions on who can register a .CO domain during Landrush period. Any individual or organization from any country can register for a .CO domain name during Landrush period.
4) Is there any trademark requirement and supporting document required under Landrush period?
No trademark requirement and supporting document is needed for domain application under Landrush period.
5) Is there any application fee for a Landrush application? Is the application fee refundable?
Application fee is required for a Landrush application and note that the application fee is not refundable.
6) Is the application and registration fee refundable in the event where the Landrush application failed?
In the event that the Landrush application has failed, the registration fee will be refunded to partner. However, the application fee is not refundable.
