1) What is Shield NS service?
WebNIC’s Shield NS service provides value added services such as DNS hosting, enabling the domain registrant to configure the resource records (A-record, MX-record, CNAME, SPF and TXT record). By subscribing to the Shield NS service, the domain will have a more stable, faster and secure connection, with guaranteed 99.999% DNS uptime.
2) How do I subscribe to the Shield NS service?
The Shield NS service will be offered under different packages. Each package will have a set limit of number of domain(s) that you may add. You may subscribe to the service according to your needs via the below steps:
- Login to your partner central at http://www.webnic.cc;
- Under VAS Manager section;
- Click on VAS Shopping Cart;
- Under Product Category, select “Shield NS”;
- Select the Shield NS package that you wish to subscribe to;
- You may subscribe to more than one package at the same time;
- Click on checkout and confirm the payment.
Subscription fee will be charged and deducted from your reseller account monthly. The domain needs to point to our Shield NS’s nameserver, ns1.shieldns.net and ns2.shieldns.net, in order to use the service.
3) How do I configure the Resource Record service for the domain after I have subscribed for the Shield NS service?
Upon subscription for the Shield NS service package, you may add the domain and configure the resource record for the domain via the below steps:
- Login to your partner central at http://www.webnic.cc;
- Under VAS Manager;
- Click on VAS Management Tool;
- Search for the package that you have subscribed;
- Key in the domain.
- Click on “Click here to add resource record” to enter the resource record editing page.
The configuration will take effect within 24-48 hours.
4) Can I subscribe the Shield NS service for domains not under my reseller account?
You may subscribe the Shield NS service for domains manage under other sponsoring registrar as long as the domain suffix is offered by WebNIC as well.
However, if the domain is manage under WebNIC as sponsoring registrar, the domain needs to be managed under your reseller account in order to subscribe for the service.
5) Do I have to use your DNS if I want to subscribe for the Shield NS service? If yes, what is the DNS?
Yes, in order for the Shield NS to take effect, the domain needs to point to the Shield NS’s nameservers, which are ns1.shieldns.net and ns2.shieldns.net.
6) What are the fees for the Shield NS service?
The subscription fee differs among different packages that we are offering. The subscription fee will be automatically deducted from your reseller account monthly. In order to continue using Shield NS service, please ensure that there is sufficient credit in your reseller account.
In the event that your reseller account has insufficient credit during renewal, the Shield NS service will be unsubscribed automatically.
7) Can I unsubscribe the Shield NS service? If yes, how?
Yes, you may unsubscribe anytime by following the below steps:
- Login to your partner central at http://www.webnic.cc;
- Under VAS Manager;
- Click on VAS Management Tool;
- Search for the package that you have subscribed;
- Tick “Unsubscribe” and submit.
Upon unsubscribed the service, the subscription fee for the particular month will not be refunded. System will stop charging the subscription fee from your reseller account on the following month.
The request must be submitted at least 3 days before the package renewal date. System will not charge the subscription fee from your reseller account on the following month onwards. |
