2) Who does the Authentication Process and what are they reviewing?

The association or independent third party does the review and these reviewers are called Authentication Providers.

The Authentication Provider reviews to confirm that the authentication information matches the membership information they hold. In addition, if partners enter names other than the legal name, supporting documents require to be submitted to the Authentication Provider for further review.

The independent third party Authentication Provider will review all registrants that are not members of a travel association, or who do not wish to be authenticated by their association.

3) What is an Authentication Provider?

Authentication will be carried out by the Registry with the support of industry associations or an independent authenticating organization. These supporting bodies are referred to as "Authentication Providers."

Authentication Providers will carry out authentication for all .travel registrations. In the case of industry associations that are acting as Authentication Providers a registrant must be a member of the association in order for them to carry out authentication. In all other cases the third party authentication provider will be able to carry out authentication, ensuring that any party can be authenticated.

4) What are the steps in authentication process?

Steps

Descriptions

Step 1

Review the Requirements for Authentication
- The business or service must fall into at least one of the defined Travel Industry Segments
- Registrant must agree to the .travel Terms and Conditions
- Registrant must adhere to the .travel Name Selection Policies in choosing domain names

Step 2

Complete the Authentication Process with the Authentication Provider that is most appropriate for the business.

Step 3

Register the .travel domain name with a .travel Registrar.

Step 4

When the association completes its review and confirms the eligibility, Unique Identifying Number (UIN) will be sent to registrant via email or fax

5) What authentication information will I have to supply?

Registrants are required to supply legal name and contact information. Optionally, registrant may supply any names that used, other than the legal name. These might be trademarks or usual business name, if it is other than legal name. If registrants enter these optional names registrant will be required to send supporting documents to the association to confirm your use of the name.

6) How will I know that the review is complete?

When the review was completed and registrant was confirmed as eligible to hold a .travel domain name, the registrant will receive a reference code/UIN. If registrant is not eligible, registrant will receive a denial notice, registrant will have an opportunity to request a review of the denial within 30 days which Tralliance will carries out the review.

7) What is Reference code/Unique Identifying Number (UIN)?

Reference code/UIN is a 16 digits number use to register a .travel domain. Reference code/UIN is permanent and will not change. It may be revoked if registrant’s eligibility changes.

8) What if I lose my reference code/UIN?

If the authentication process was gone through WebNIC, please send the request to support@webnic.cc.

If the authentication process was gone through prior, registrant’s association will also receive a copy of the UIN and please obtained it from them. Tralliance will also hold a permanent database of UINs and registrant may obtain the UIN from Tralliance at any time.

9) How will .travel know that I have been authenticated?

All authentications will be confirmed by .travel. Registrant will be sent a reference code/Unique Identifying Number (UIN) by us. Registrant will use that number when register any .travel names in the future. The reference code is permanent and will not change. It may be revoked if the eligibility changes.

10) Who does my authentication if I belong to more than one travel association?

We understand that some travel companies are members of several associations, but we anticipate that each company will register with their primary association, i.e. a hotel company in the US would register with AH&LA or in Canada with HAC, and a South African tour operator would register for example, with the TBCSA.

However, each .travel registrant that has multiple memberships will have the choice through which association they ultimately register. Registrants will provide their eligibility data first to their associations, enabling their own associations to authenticate their eligibility and provide that authentication to Tralliance in readiness for the member's name selection when .travel launches.

11) How do I register if I don't belong to an association or if my association is not an Authentication Provider?

An independent authenticating organization will be available to handle authentication of any party that wishes to have them handle their authentication.

1) Why does the world need Tralliance's .travel Directory?

Travel industry is the largest e-commerce segment on the Internet and the largest industry in the world. It accounts for more than 11% of the world's economy. One out of every twelve workers in the world are in the Travel Industry and since the inception of the commercial Internet has been one of its fastest growing segments. The size of the travel industry and its rapid growth on the Internet has made it difficult to locate accurate travel information and to develop broad-based and effective e-commerce to its full potential. Tralliance's travel directory will improve industry efficiency on the Internet as travel information will be aggregated in one public directory, making it a single and definitive source for consumers and the travel trade.

2) Is the .travel Directory a search engine?

It is more than a search engine. A search engine is as valuable as the data that is available to it. The .travel Directory will have data detailing all products and services that are being offered and such data will be provided by the travel businesses themselves. This data will be accessible through a custom-made taxonomy or controlled vocabulary, developed specifically for travel Industry. Tralliance's extensive industry data and indexing technology will enable sophisticated search capabilities to deliver very specific information to each query.

3) Does my company need a .travel Domain Name to be in the Travel Directory?

Yes. Domain name registration and "loading" of directory data by travel trade members will happen at the same time through a simple web based interface.

4) Will consumers pay to access the .travel directory?

No. Directory access is free. Consumers will not pay for access to the directory information, nor will Tralliance charge industry members for order of placements in the list of responses from a search query.

Place names include city names, county names, continental names, regional names, state, province and territory names. Initially, the Registry will reserve Country Names and Place Names for registration by the applicable governmental authority, agency, board or bureau that holds a right to such name.
