1) What is Sunrise & Landrush Registration Period?

Sunrise refers to the periods of time where the .XXX only offers to eligible trademark holders and/or registered entity to register.
Landrush refers to the initial period of public availability of the new .XXX domain. Any eligible interested registrants can submit their .XXX Landrush application.

3) Who is eligible to register .XXX domain name?

A member of Adult Entertainment Industry are eligible to register a .XXX domain name where only a name registered by an authenticated member able to resolve.
Member of Adult Entertainment Industry defined as below:

Individuals, business, entities, and organizations that:

  • have determined that a system of self-identification would be beneficial, and
  • have voluntarily agreed to comply with all IFFOR Policies and Best Practices Guidelines [hyperlink to http://www.iffor.org/policies.html], as published from time to time on the IFFOR web site; and
  • either:
    • Provide online, sexually-oriented adult entertainment ("Online Adult Entertainment") intended for consenting adults or for other community members ("Providers");
    • Represent Providers ("Representatives"); or
    • Provide products or services to Providers and Representatives ("Service Providers").
 

4) What are the registration requirements for .XXX under Sunrise and Landrush period?

Sunrise A (Trademark)

  • Applicable for Members of the Adult Entertainment Industry with verifiable trademark rights of national effect issued prior to 1 September 2011.
  • Domain name applied need correspond and match to the trademark or service mark
  • Non-refundable Sunrise fee is applicable.
  • Applicants are required to authenticate as member.

Sunrise A (Grandfathering)

  • Applicable for owner of exact matching domains in other gTLDs and ccTLDs under Adult Entertainment Industry
  • Domain name must have been registered prior February 2010, active and operate a website under Adult Entertainment Industry.
  • Domain names primarily used for parking, link farming or forwarding to a site operated by a party is not eligible
  • Non-refundable Sunrise fee is applicable.
  • Applicants are required to authenticate as member.
  • Relationship between grandfather domain (e.g. example.com) and the corresponding .XXX domain name applied for (e.g. example.xxx) must be confirmed.
  • We will provide you with the DOMAINID of the .XXX application; please forward the DOMAINID to your customers and inform them about the following requirement.
    • Applicant MUST provide DOMAINID in one of two locations by 31 October 2011, 16:00 (GMT+0800):
      • Location 1: In an empty text (.txt) file, prefixed with IPROTA_ (including the underscore), and located in the document root of the website located at www.example.TLD (IPROTA_[DOMAINID].txt)
        Generic example: IPROTA_[DOMAINID].txt
        Actual data example: IPROTA_D1001-XXX.txt http://example.com/ IPROTA_D1001-XXX.txt
        Please make sure the IPROTA_D1001-XXX is all UPPERCASE
        OR
      • Location 2: IPROTA_[DOMAINID] must be added to the TXT (Text) record of the DNS for the domain name www.example.TLD

Sunrise B

  • Applicable for applicant outside of the Adult Entertainment Industry with verifiable trademark rights of national effect issued prior to 1 September 2011 who wish to block their name in the .XXX from registration for 10 years.
  • Domain name applied need correspond and match to the trademark or service mark.
  • Non-refundable One-time fee is applicable.
  • The domain name cannot be lifted and there is no ownership of the block. Whois will reflect as ICM Registry.

Landrush

  • Applicable for Members of the Adult Entertainment Industry, no other qualification requirements needed, not first come, first served.
  • Non-refundable Landrush fee is applicable.
  • Applicants are required to authenticate as member.
 

5) What is process of membership authentication?

Applicants under Sunrise A (Trademark & Grandfathering) and Landrush are required to authenticate as member before awarded the domain or proceed to auction 48 hours before the end of Sunrise or Landrush, authentication email will send by registry. Failed to do so, they will lose their application and no refund provided.

6) Is there any trademark requirement and supporting document required under Sunrise period?

Correct and valid trademark information is required to be submitted during the application submission where, information is not amendable once the application being submitted into registry. Additional documentary evidence is needed if registry required extra information or the information submitted is not sufficient. Any request for documentary evidence must be submitted within the time period requested.

 

7) What information will show under WHOIS for a success Sunrise B application?

A success Sunrise B application will block the name from registration for 10 years, where public WHOIS will show reserved by Registry. The domain name cannot be lifted and there is no ownership of the block.

 

8) Is there any application fee for a Sunrise & Landrush application? Is the application fee refundable?

Application fee is required for a Sunrise and Landrush application and note that the fee is not refundable.

 

9) Is the application and registration fee refundable in the event where the Sunrise or Landrush application verification failed?

In the event that the Sunrise or Landrush application verification has failed, the registration fee will be refunded to partner. However, the application fee is not refundable. Note that Sunrise B application is not applicable.

 

10) How long will the validation process take?

The total time required or specific time required for a particular application is highly dependent on a number of factors, not all of which are known at this stage, but that includes:

  • The total number of applications received;
  • Whether or not documentary evidence is required and whether it meets the requirements;
  • The number of the request for reconsiderations.
 

11) Does the first-come, first-serve basis apply on the Sunrise & Landrush application for .XXX domain name?

If there is only one success applicant for a domain, it will be allocated to the applicant. If more than one applicant to the same domain (under same phase) passes the verification process, all successfully verified applicants will be invited to bid for that domain in an auction.

 

12) My customer does not have any registered trademark, how does my customer secure his/her brand or mark?

A customer who does not have any trademark registration may register a non-resolving name during general availability which is in first-come, first-served basis.
