.EU is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the European Union and is only available to those businesses and individuals located in the EU.
2) Who can register for a .eu domain name and what are the special registration requirements/restrictions for .eu domain name?
Special requirements/restrictions for a .eu domain name are as below:-
- In order to register a .eu domain name, registrants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Undertakings having their registered office, central administration or
principal place of business within the European Community;
- Organizations established within the European Community without
prejudice to the application of national law;
- Natural person’s resident within the European Community.
- Address and country must be within the European Union (EU).

3) I have an EU community trademark but my company is based outside of the EU. Can I register a .eu domain name?
No, only the categories of companies, organizations and individuals stated in the Question 2 will be able to register a .eu domain.
4) Are there any reserved or blocked .eu domain names?
The .eu Registry has reserved or blocked certain names. These include:-
- Reserved names:
- Names which are reserved for registration only by the government of a Member State;
[Member States, countries due to join the European Union in the future, and member countries of the European Economist Area (that are not Member States) were allowed to reserve their official name and the name under which they are commonly known in the one or more of the official languages of the EU.]
- Names which are reserved for use by the Community institutions;
- Names reserved for the use of the .eu Registry (Reserved for the operational functions of the registry: eurid.eu, registry.eu, nic.eu, dns.eu internic.eu, whois.eu, das.eu, coc.eu, eurethix.eu, eurethics.eu, euthics.eu).
- Blocked names:
- Geographical and/or geopolitical concepts;

There is no renewal grace period for .eu domain name, partners may renew the domain name through QuickStart Wizard function. Partner may refer to “Domain Renewal” FAQ for more information.
11) Any Redemption Grace Period (RGP) for .eu domain name?
Yes, Redemption Grace Period for .eu domain name is a period of 40 days. Partner may refer to “Domain Restoration” FAQ for more information.
12) How long does it takes for a domain to release to public registration after expired and not renew?
After a .eu domain was expired, it will go through below life cycle:-
No renewal grace period -- > No Redemption grace period --> 40 days pending delete (quarantine period)
If partners did not renew or restore the domain name, it will be release for public re-registration approximately 40 days from the domain expiration date. Please note that domain re-registration is on first-come, first-served basis.
13) Can I initiate a registrar transfer for .eu domain name and how do I initiate the transfer?

14) Can I initiate a reseller transfer for .eu domain name and how do I initiate the transfer?
