Domain name is a unique name that identifies an Internet site. It allows Domain Name System (DNS) computers to identify the website when Internet users are searching for it.

Why should I get a domain name?
Domain name was needed so that people can find the site on the World Wide Web quickly and easily. It was an essential tool to introduce the business to the public; businesses often register domains to protect them from cyber-squatting or unauthorized use.
What are the common requirements to register a domain name?
- Domain names can only contain characters from A to Z, 0 – 9;
- Domain names may contain “hyphen/-” but may not begin or end with a hyphen;
- Spaces and special characters, such as question marks (?), exclamation points (!), and underscores (_) are never permitted;
- All domains must have at least 2 name servers and IPs listed at all times;
- Domain name can not have hyphens as the 3rd and 4th characters (reserved for multilingual domain registration eg: xn--example.com)
- Information provided in the domain name registration application is true, correct, up to date and complete;
- Registrant must always keep the domain Whois information up to date.

What kind of Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) does WebNIC offer?
WebNIC currently offer second-level IDN domain names in .asia, .ar, .biz, .br, .ca, .cc, .com, .cn, .co, .info, .hk, .lk, .net, .np, .org, .tv, and .tw. For IDN .biz, we offer IDN registrations in 9 languages which are Chinese, Danish, German, Icelandic, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Spanish, and Swedish.
How do I determine whether the domain name is available or not?
Partners may try to register the domain via control panel, if the name is still available, system shall automatically prompt to the next step. If the domain name is already taken, type in a new name and search again.
Will my client able to visit the website with IDN Chinese Domain Name?
The current users who are already using i-Nav plug-in in their web browser or they are using IDN-enabled browsers will able to browse the website with IDNChinese Domain Name. However, the i-Nav plug-in will be no longer applicable with effective on 7th June 2011 due to cease of distributing by the provide. Therefore, we recommend the site visitors to install an IDN-enabled browser of their choice and continue to enjoy navigating the Web using IDNs in their own language.
