What is Registry Lock?

Registry lock is an extra layer of protection from “domain hijacking”. The lock blocks unauthorized access for changes to update, delete or transfer.

How do I subscribe Registry Lock?

The Registry Lock Service will be offered for different extension. Currently, we are offering few extension’s Registry Lock Service as below:

  • .COM
  • .NET
  • .CC
  • .TV
  • .NAME
  • .HK

How WebNIC charge us?

Partner have to agree and authorize Webnic to manual deduct fees from partner’s account upon e-mail notification.

Can I transfer domain with Registry Lock Service?

No, domain name with Registry Lock is not allowed to transfer. To transfer the domain, partner need to unsubscribe the service.

However, the fees is not refundable.

Can I renew domain?

No, domain name with Registry Lock renewal is prohibited. However, domain will not be dropped because auto renewal for domain and lock service will active on the day of before 30 expiry date.

What are the requirement for Registry Lock?

  • Registry lock and domain must be expired in same term.
  • Registry lock not applicable for domain expiry period less than 3 months for .COM, .NET, .CC, .TV, .NAME and .HK.
  • Registry lock not applicable for domain expiry period less than 12 months for .CN.

Can I unsubscribe the Registry Lock Service? If yes, how?

Yes, you may unsubscribe the service by contact our support at [email protected]. Termination can be made before 30 days of expiry date.

Can I delete a domain after subscribe Registry Lock Service?

No, you are not allowed to delete the domain after subscribe Registry Lock Service. To delete the domain, partner need to unsubscribe the service. However, the fees is not refundable.

Can I unlock and modify status? Any charges?

Yes, unlock to modification are limit to 2 times per year. Extra charges for each additional unlock.

How can I modify my status?

You need to provide WebNIC the detail of modification update. Support will assist partner to update the status. However, partner required to make sure the validity of domain details, eg: DNS registered.
