What is SME Domain-name Reservation programme?

This promotion will be available from 1st January 2011 until further notice.

Under this program, new Singapore SME company which registered with Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) via Bizfile system, can reserve their first “.com.sg” or “.sg” domain name FREE for the first year registration term. The domain name must be activated within 90 days from the date of business/company that successfully registered with ACRA.

New or existing Singapore SMEs [ACRA-registered businesses] includes:

  • Business
  • Companies including Public Accounting Corporation (PAC)
  • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
  • Public Accounting Firms (PAF)

How much does it cost to reserve a domain name?

No fee is charged for reserving a domain name.

How do my customer reserve a domain name?

You may contact WebNIC at [email protected] for the domain reservation.

Please provide WebNIC a copy of your customer’s company Biz Profile (with information on the NRIC of the owners/shareholders/directors) and a copy of the NRIC of any of the owner/shareholder/director for verification.

Note: Your customer’s company which has registered with ACRA Bizfile, is entitled for this promotion if the domain name is reserved and activated within 90 days from the company registration date.

Once the domain is reserved, you may activate it via Partner Central and manage the domain under your account.

If my customer is an existing business/company. How can my customer reserve a domain name?

If your customer’s company is newly registered with ACRA Bizfile, they can enjoy this promotion if the domain name is reserved and activated within 90 days from the business/company registration date.

Please provide WebNIC a copy of your customer’s company Biz Profile (with information on the NRIC of the owners/shareholders/directors) and a copy of the NRIC of any of the owner/shareholder/director for verification.

Can my customer reserve more than one domain name?

No. Your customer can only reserve one domain name for each registration of business, company or limited liability partnership (LLP) in Singapore.

How long will the domain name be reserved?

The domain name must be reserved and activated within 90 days from the business/company registration date. You may proceed to activate the reserved domain name via Partner Central.

For example: if ABC Pte Ltd is incorporated on 1 June 2011, they can enjoy the discount if the domain name is reserved and activated by 29 August 2011, 11:59:59 PM (where 1 June is the first day, and 29 August is the 90th day).

If the domain name is not activated by the end of the 90th day of reservation period, your reservation will lapse and you will not be entitled under this promotion.

What happens after the reservation period?

If there is no activation during the 90 days reservation period, the reservation will be lapsed and you will not entitle for the promotion. Meanwhile, the domain name will be available for registration/reservation by any other party, in first-come first-serve basis.

If my customer has forgotten whether their reservation period has ended. What should I do?

You may query the reserved domain through the Online Whois search. The “Creation Date” of the WHOIS result shows the date when the domain name was first reserved. The reservation period will end on the 90th day from the “Creation Date”.

Do my customer has to pay after the reservation period ends?

No, there will be no penalty payment. If you wish to, your customer can still approach you to register for the same domain name (if it is not registered by another party) or a new domain name.

How do I activate the reserved domain name for my customers?

To activate the reserved domain name, please login to your WebNIC Partner Central and perform the activation through steps below with the following information:

Login to partner central > Domain Manager > Click on “SGNIC ACRA Application” function

  • Reserved domain name
  • ACRA Registration Number
  • NRIC number

Note: The domain will have 4 set of same contact information once it has been activated.

If my customer has forgotten the domain name that they have reserved. What should I do?

If your customer wish to activate the domain name, but he/she unable to recall the domain name that has reserved, you may approach WebNIC with your customer’s business/company’s ACRA registration number and NRIC number of the owner / shareholder / director.

What if my customer want to change the reserved domain name?

You may request the change through WebNIC.

Please provide WebNIC with a copy of your Biz Profile (with information on the NRIC of the owners/shareholders/directors) and a copy of the NRIC of any of the owner/shareholder/director for verification.

Does my customer qualify under this promotion?

Your customer will qualify as long as his/her company is newly registered at ACRA BizFile, with the domain name reserved and activated within 90 days from the business/company registration date.

Can my customer reserve a .net,.sg, .org.sg, .per.sg domain name?

This promotion is targeted at entities registered with Accounting Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) only. Therefore, your customer is able to reserve a “.com.sg” or “.sg” domain name only.
